It's simple. If you can read, you can succeed in anything (except maybe precision diving). However, reading is not like riding a bike - it's a skill you need to continually build and foster as reading materials become more difficult throughout your life. To help you build your skills, you will be required to complete an independent reading selection each quarter. This book should be selected primarily based on your own interests and reading abilities. While I will not assign you a book, I will help you find that "just right" fit to keep you reading each night. In addition to completing the book, you will also have to complete a weekly journal entry on your reading. This shouldn't be too difficult because it will be based upon a book of YOUR choice and will be YOUR OWN OPINIONS. Each entry will be scored and totaled to create a final assessment grade. In other words, this is an easy "A" if you simply find something to read that you will enjoy!
